Affordable Homes for our Communities
.... forging ahead
Your chance to see and comment on plans for affordable homes for local people in the village
Your parish council invites Diseworth villagers to attend a public drop-in session to discuss the plans for affordable homes for local people in the village.
The venue – The Village Hall, Diseworth
The date – Tuesday 9th December
The time – Between 4:00pm and 7:00pm
Following the issue of local needs housing being highlighted in the Parish Plan and then quantified by the housing needs survey in June, the Parish Council asks you to attend a drop in session in the Village Hall.
Outline plans of the proposed site will be available for you to discuss with us, the developing housing association, the local authority and the rural housing enabler.
We welcome your comments on layout, design or whatever they may be as we need to be sure that this project is in the best interest of the village.
Refreshments will also be available.
Please come along and see what’s going on!
NOTE: Everyone's welcome at this event. Long Whatton's own event is likely to follow soon. Look out for details...

"Airport Parking" - Group to Decide on Action
About 30 people attended the recent Public Meeting at Diseworth. A full discussion considered all the known options. It was clear that some positive action was necessary and, through the Parish Council, a Group comprising local people is to be established so that the possibilities can be considered in detail and any decisions carried through. To contribute to this Group, please contact the Chairman or Clerk (below) to express your interest and we will keep in touch.

Airport Runway Extension
"Third longest runway in UK after Gatwick and Heathrow"
The Council's Planning Group met on 21st August and responded to the latest application for runway extensions at the Airport. It was decided to object to the proposals. It was clear that the latest version of the Environmental Statement submitted was grossly under-stating the impact which the extended runway would have - most of which would be apparent during the night. Assessments of the impact on inevitable future infrastructure developments to allow all-comers to use the airport (and which the operators would find difficult to resist) both within and outside the airport boundary had not been addressed. The impact of the resulting increased traffic to and from the site had been dismissed as insignificant. The Council's full response is now available to view here within the agenda for the 4th September meeting.

ON NOVEMBER'S AGENDA
Topics considered at the meeting on 6th November were:
# Airport Parking: The Group of residents formed to take this matter forward will be obtaining information about what is possible, short of painting yellow lines on Diseworth's streets.
# The annual play areas safety inspection report - a quotation for maintenance work has been received and decisions are being taken about the work to be done.
# It was decided that a second member of the Council should be appointed as a representative on Long Whatton Community Association.
# The Council responded to an appeal for continued assistance with the PRIDE alarm scheme by aggreeing to make a grant.
# A new route for the Skylink bus is being introduced in January which means that services will be reduced to hourly throughout the 24 hours, the alternate service during the day being routed through Kegworth.
# Donington Park Circuit is now submitting plans for major developments anticipating the coming of the Grand Prix. We are consulted as the 'neighbouring parish' and expect to see an Environmental Impact Statement to assess the impact on local roads. The current major consultation will be further considered at the Planning Group meeting on 20th November.
# The Natural Burial Company is seeking suitable new sites to add to the two it already has in Leicestershire. A contact number can be obtained from the Clerk (above).
# We're consulted on the East Midlands Regional Plan, Codes of Conduct for local authority members and employees and the Charnwood Development Plan. These are being considered by Councillors before any responses are sent.
#There will be a meeting of the Valley Community Forum on 19th November at Packington.
# All the Planning consultations since the last meeting will either be reported on or dealt with. Any decisions taken by the planning authorities will be reported.
